How do I apply for Magalir Urimai Thogai?
You can apply at the ration shop your family card is attached to, at a registration camp, or at an e-sevai centre. The application guide explains each step. Applying is free.
Is there any fee to apply?
No. Applying is free. Never pay an agent or anyone who claims they can get you approved for a fee.
Which documents do I need?
Commonly your family (ration) card, Aadhaar, bank passbook, voter ID, a passport-size photo and a mobile number. Your Aadhaar should be linked to your bank account. See the documents guide.
Eligibility
Who is eligible for Magalir Urimai Thogai?
In general, a woman who is the head of her family, is at least 21 years old, and whose family income, land holding and household electricity use are within the scheme limits. Some families — such as those with an income-tax payer, a government employee or a car owner — are excluded. See the eligibility guide for the full conditions.
What is the income limit for the scheme?
The scheme is meant for families with an annual income below ₹2.5 lakh. Land and electricity limits also apply. Confirm the current limits on the official portal.
Can single women or transgender women apply?
Yes. A single woman with her own family card can apply as the head of the family, and transgender women with a ration card are eligible to apply.
Can two women in the same family get the payment?
No. Only one woman per family (ration) card can receive the payment.

How do I check my application status?
Check on the official portal at kmut.tn.gov.in and watch for an SMS on your registered mobile number. See the status guide.
My application was rejected. Can I appeal?
Yes. Read the reason in your message, correct any wrong details, and use the appeal option on the official portal. See rejection reasons.
Is this the official government website?
No. This is an independent information website that explains the scheme. The official portal is kmut.tn.gov.in. Always use the official portal for applying, appealing and checking status.
Will anyone ask for my OTP or bank password?
No genuine government process will ask for your OTP, PIN or bank password to give you this payment. Never share them. If someone asks, it is a scam.
Payment
How much money will I get and how often?
Eligible beneficiaries receive ₹1,000 per month, which is ₹12,000 a year, paid directly to the bank account.
When is the monthly amount credited?
It is usually credited around the middle of the month, close to the 15th, though the exact date can vary. Check your bank account and the official portal.
I was approved but did not receive the payment. Why?
The most common cause is that your bank account is not linked to Aadhaar for direct benefit transfer (NPCI seeding), which is separate from ordinary bank KYC. Ask your bank to seed your Aadhaar for DBT. The payments guide explains the other causes too.
