Common reasons a Magalir Urimai Thogai application is rejected

Applications are often rejected because a family member is excluded, the details do not match records, or an eligibility limit is crossed. You can appeal on the official portal.

A rejection does not always mean you are not eligible. Sometimes it is a mismatch in records that can be corrected and appealed. Read the reason in your message first.

Reasons applications are commonly rejected

  • A family member is in an excluded group — for example an income-tax payer, a government employee, or a car owner.
  • The family income, land or electricity use is above the scheme limit.
  • Your details do not match the family card or other government records.
  • Another woman on the same family card is already enrolled.
  • The application was incomplete or a document was missing.

What you can do next

  1. Read the exact reason in the SMS or on the portal.
  2. If the reason is a mistake in your records, fix it using the corrections guide.
  3. Use the appeal option on the official portal to ask for a review. The result of an appeal is sent by SMS or email.
  4. If you genuinely do not meet a condition, the rejection is likely to stand — but you can re-check the current rules on the official portal.

Appeals and their outcomes are handled by the government on the official portal. If a beneficiary is added after an appeal, the monthly amount is credited to her bank account.
