Magalir Urimai Thogai payment: how the ₹1,000 is credited

Approved beneficiaries receive ₹1,000 a month by direct bank transfer. The most common reason a payment does not arrive is that the bank account is not Aadhaar-seeded.

If your application is approved, the monthly ₹1,000 is sent straight to your bank account by Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Payments are generally credited around the middle of the month, though the exact date can vary.

How the payment reaches you

  • The amount is ₹1,000 per month (₹12,000 a year).
  • It is paid by direct transfer to the beneficiary’s bank account.
  • It is usually credited around the 15th of the month.

If your payment does not arrive

For direct benefit transfers, the single most common cause of a missing payment is that the bank account is not correctly linked to Aadhaar in the national payments system (called NPCI seeding). This is separate from ordinary bank KYC — an account can be KYC-complete and still not be seeded for DBT.

  1. Ask your bank branch to seed your Aadhaar with your account for DBT and to update it on the NPCI mapper.
  2. Check that your account is active and not dormant, frozen or closed.
  3. Make sure the account details on your application are correct.
  4. If a wrong or unlinked account caused a failed credit, the amount is usually retried in a later cycle once the link is fixed.

No government officer will ask for your OTP, PIN, or full bank password to release a payment. Never share these with anyone, and never enter them on a website that is not the official portal. If someone asks, it is a scam.

If your details are wrong or the account will not receive the transfer, the corrections guide explains what to fix.
